Zooglot · Viking Labs
Privacy policy
Zooglot works without accounts, cookies or tracking. This page explains the little data that is involved.
Last updated: 1 October 2026
1. Who is responsible
The controller for personal data on zooglot.com is Viking Labs, Kastanjestraat 9, 8820 Torhout, Belgium. Enterprise number 1042.997.052. Contact: info@vikinglabs.com . Full company details are in the legal notice.
2. What is stored in your browser
Zooglot saves three small items in your browser's local storage so the game works as you expect:
| Item | What it holds | Why |
|---|---|---|
zooglot.muted | Whether you turned sound effects off | Remembers your sound setting |
zooglot.best | Your highest score in the 10-question game | Shows your personal best |
zooglot.daily | Today's date, your Daily score and the green/red squares | Lets you play the Daily once per day and share your result |
These items are not cookies. They are never sent to our server or to anyone else, and they contain nothing that identifies you. They are strictly necessary for features you use, so no consent is required under Belgian law (article 10/2 of the Act of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications). You can delete them at any time by clearing the site data for zooglot.com in your browser settings.
3. Server logs
When your browser loads a page, our hosting provider Hostinger International Ltd. (Cyprus, EU) automatically records technical data: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, and your browser and device type. This is needed to deliver the website and protect it against abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Hostinger processes this data on our behalf as a processor and deletes the logs automatically after a limited period. We do not use these logs to build profiles or identify visitors.
4. When you email us
If you contact us by email, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your question (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep the conversation for as long as needed to handle it, and at most two years.
5. Sharing your result
The Share button copies a short text to your clipboard, on your own device. Nothing is sent to us. Where you paste it is up to you, and the privacy policy of that app or website applies there.
6. Children
Zooglot is suitable for all ages. Because the game collects no personal data from players, children can play without giving any information about themselves.
7. Who receives data
We do not sell or share personal data. The only party involved is our hosting provider, as described above. If data is ever processed outside the European Economic Area, this happens only with appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Email us to use these rights. We will reply within one month.
You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, dataprotectionauthority.be.
9. Changes
If Zooglot adds features such as accounts or leaderboards, this policy will be updated before those features go live. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
